I am excited today to be part of the release blast for Stacey Kennedy’s Heartbreaker. I love a good law enforcement romance and this features two people involved in law enforcement.
After her boyfriend breaks up with her, Joss is feeling lost and bereft. But she is also ready to try something new, to forget her ex-boyfriend. That’s when she meets Maddox and soon they are going at in the club’s bathroom. But it’s just one moment, just one small moment and it will never be repeated because Maddox does not do repeats.
One year later, Joss and Maddox are brought together again. And the sexual tension between them is hotter than ever. But now Maddox is Joss’s superior at the police station. She is his subordinate and there is no way they can be together, if even for just a fling. Maddox and Joss crave each other however and it isn’t long before the tension between them is leading to sexual release.
The tagline for Heartbreaker is “filthy dirty love” and this book definitely holds true to that. Talk about sexy! Maddox knows just how to make Joss feel alive. And Maddox is a master in the bedroom. While I wouldn’t qualify this book as a BDSM story, there are very strong hints of it in the way Maddox takes care of Joss during their sexual encounters. It is not love at first but as the story continues these two get a lot closer. It is difficult though because they are both hiding parts of themselves from each other.
Stacey Kennedy does a good job of working in the conflicts these two face on a professional level even if it tended to end a little easier on that storyline than I expected. Mostly, I just really enjoyed watching these two fall for each other. It was not easy on either of them because they had convinced themselves that there was no way the could be in love but of course, any romance reader knows that love is exactly what these two need in their lives.
If you’re in the mood for a really sexy and dirty (in a very romantic way!) story, I recommend Heartbreaker. I am excited to see what the second story in the series will be about. Joss and Maddox are going to break your heart just the tiniest bit but it’s worth it!
