Review: Your Tempting Love by Layla Hagen

In the mood for a straightforward, guy meets girl, they connect and fall in love? Look no farther than Layla Hagen’s new release, Your Tempting Love. Victoria Hensley is an interior designer who has recently opened up her own business with her best friend. Right now, word of mouth is their best advertisement and that is how she connects with Christopher Bennett. She recently worked on his sister’s home and since Christopher liked it, he is eager to work with Victoria. He doesn’t realize quite how potent she is as a woman however until they meet in person and the chemistry ignites between them.

Their flirtatious banter is off the charts, even as both realize that maybe what is happening is a little bit outside the realms of professionals working together. Christopher can’t seem to help himself. The more he is around Victoria, the more he wants her. When he learns his sisters are trying to set him up with Victoria, his interest should have died down. But that just isn’t happening. The more time he spends with Victoria and her family, the more invested he is in her. Perhaps this die-hard bachelor is ready for a serious connection?

Victoria is just trying to get by lately. After the death of her parents, she gained sole custody of her seventeen-year-old sister, Sienna, and her two younger adopted brother and sister. Add to that a growing business and Victoria has no time to fall in love. She’s been burned before by getting interested in clients on more than a professional level so she wants to avoid that trap at all costs. But being around Christopher and not reacting to him as a woman to a man is hard, especially when she sees how wonderful he is with her family. But can Victoria let down her guard and trust her instincts that Christopher won’t just be another wham bam thank you m’am type of guy?

Your Tempting Love is the first book I’ve read by Layla Hagen, and the first book I’ve read in the Bennett family series. But I jumped in and had no problem with connecting with Christopher and Victoria, or Christopher’s extended family. Right off the bat, these two have great chemistry. I admit, sometimes I had a little secondhand embarrassment for Victoria and the things she let slip to Christopher, but he was always sweet about her banter. His open personality just swept her in!

Victoria is a great character. I really admired her for taking care of her siblings, while grieving for her parents, and working to start her business. She has a good head on her shoulders and though she is aware of some of the professional mistakes she has made in the past, that isn’t stopping her from being successful now.

What I liked most about this book is how simple and ordinary it felt as a love story. They meet, they flirt, they realize they really like each other and eventually fall in love. There aren’t huge obstacles along the way but there are enough conflicts to keep the story interesting. Lest I make this seem like it’s boring, I promise, it is not! It is a sweet love story and something I didn’t even realize I was in the mood for. This is a great modern contemporary romance!

Christopher Bennett is a persuasive man. With his magnetic charm and undeniable wit, he plays a key role in the international success of his family’s company.

Christopher adores his family, even if they can be too meddling sometimes… like when they recommend him to employ Victoria Hensley’s decorating services for his new apartment in an attempt to set him up with her. Christopher isn’t looking to settle down, but meeting Victoria turns his world upside down. Her laughter is contagious, and her beautiful lips and curves are too tempting.

Victoria Hensley is determined not to fall under Christopher’s spell, even though the man is hotter than sin, and his flirty banter makes her toes curl. But Christopher is her client, and she knows better than to get involved with clients. Besides, Victoria isn’t looking for love. After her parents’ death, Victoria is raising her much younger siblings, and she can’t afford any mistakes.

But Victoria and Christopher’s chemistry is not just the sparks-flying kind, but the downright explosive kind. Before she knows it, Christopher is training her brother Lucas for soccer tryouts and reading bedtime stories to her sister Chloe.

Victoria wants to resist him, but Christopher is determined, stubborn, and oh-so-persuasive.

When their attraction and connection both spiral out of control, will they be able to risk it all for a love that is far too tempting?
