Your Tempting Love is the first book I’ve read by Layla Hagen, and the first book I’ve read in the Bennett family series. But I jumped in and had no problem with connecting with Christopher and Victoria, or Christopher’s extended family. Right off the bat, these two have great chemistry. I admit, sometimes I had a little secondhand embarrassment for Victoria and the things she let slip to Christopher, but he was always sweet about her banter. His open personality just swept her in!
Victoria is a great character. I really admired her for taking care of her siblings, while grieving for her parents, and working to start her business. She has a good head on her shoulders and though she is aware of some of the professional mistakes she has made in the past, that isn’t stopping her from being successful now.
What I liked most about this book is how simple and ordinary it felt as a love story. They meet, they flirt, they realize they really like each other and eventually fall in love. There aren’t huge obstacles along the way but there are enough conflicts to keep the story interesting. Lest I make this seem like it’s boring, I promise, it is not! It is a sweet love story and something I didn’t even realize I was in the mood for. This is a great modern contemporary romance!
