I am excited to be part of the tour for Romancing the Bachelor by Diane Alberts. This is the first book I have read by her and I just thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.
Eric Hamilton is struck dumb in the courtroom when he notices the court reporter. He wants to know her name immediately because he has big plans for this beautiful woman. Unfortunately for him, Shelby Jefferson has seen Eric’s love ’em and leave ’em behavior for the past six months so she is not falling for it. Shelby has been working in the courts with Eric for six months and if that isn’t the worst thing, they also happened to be living in the same apartment complex and he has never said one thing to her before. Suddenly, a shorter skirt and her hair down means he is ready to notice her. Shelby isn’t having any of it.
But Eric is persistent. The more he gets to know Shelby, the more he just plain likes her. She is funny, blunt, smart, and not at all afraid to put him in his place. But Shelby wants no part of even dating Eric. She has plans to get out of Atlanta. She is searching for a new job in any small town willing to hire her. After moving to Atlanta for a guy, and getting her heartbroken and being left broke and down on her luck, Shelby is all about making her own future and that future she wants is not in Atlanta. For Eric, this is tough because he wants to make partner at his law firm. But he also really, really likes Shelby and though he is hesitant to use the R word (RELATIONSHIP!), he is starting to think the potential for something between them is too strong to resist.
Diane Alberts really charmed me with Romancing the Bachelor. I loved the chemistry between Eric and Shelby. I also really liked that Shelby wasn’t going to put up with any guff from Eric. She’s seen his playbook play out as it were and she is not impressed (or so she tells herself). But the more she gets to know him, past the facade of the playboy lawyer, the more she realizes that Eric is worth fighting for and that frightens her. She does not want to become dependent on a man again, not for her happiness or comfort. And I can definitely understand Shelby’s feelings on this topic but I was really hoping she would realize that maybe she could have the best of both worlds: Eric and her independent spirit.
I appreciated that these two did not change their minds on their perspective futures overnight. Eric especially took some time because he never really thought he wanted to be part of a long-lasting relationship. I’m glad he came to his senses! I really appreciated the big gesture at the end to prove to Shelby that she is what he wants more than anything in the world.
Romancing the Bachelor is a fun and sparkling romance story. Eric and Shelby had some walls to break down to make their new relationship a go, but it was well worth it. Diane Alberts definitely has written a super sweet romance perfect for any fan of the genre!

Eric Hamilton isn’t looking for love. Hell, he isn’t even looking for a girl. He has a five-year plan, and he’s one hundred percent focused on that. But then Shelby walks into his life, and suddenly, he can’t think about anything else. Unfortunately for him, she hates his guts, and wants nothing to do with him. But he’s a man who loves a challenge.
Shelby Jefferson can’t wait to get out of the city, and back to her country roots. She moved to Atlanta for a guy who promptly left her, and the last thing she wants is to fall for another man who might make her want to stay. But Eric is nothing if not persistent, and before long she’s inside his arms, in his bed, and she’s falling for him. Hard. But when history repeats itself, and she has to choose between a man and herself––again.
