Review: Three Blind Dates by Meghan Quinn

Choose_TBD

I took a chance on this book because I have never heard of this author before. The blurb for the book sounded really fun though and I’m so glad I pursued this story. Three Blind Dates by Meghan Quinn is wonderful romantic comedy! I had so much fun reading this book and getting to know Noely Clark.

Noely is co-host of a local morning talk show. She has a great job, a great best friend, but she really wants to find a man to share her life with. She is ready to settle down and plan a future with someone. Deciding that her dating life hasn’t exactly been great in the past, Noely signs-up with a blind date service. And what luck, because this company finds three great guys for Noely to date. Unfortunately, even when a match looks great on paper, that doesn’t mean love is guaranteed. As Noely gets to know “The Suit”, “The Rebel”, and “The Jock”, she discovers what she really wants in a relationship. And that no man is worth settling for unless he makes her absolutely happy.

So, I kind of started reading this book a little too close to my review time. I don’t usually leave it this long but between the holidays and getting back to work, I just hadn’t found reading time. BUT… once I started, I just devoured this book. I read it before going to work in the morning, I read it on my breaks at work, and when I got home from work, finishing this book was the first thing on my mind.

Now, savvy romance readers are going to figure out pretty quickly who Noely will end up with. But in this case, that didn’t ruin the fun for me at all. I really liked seeing how each of the men brought out different facets of Noely’s personality. It was interesting to see these men interact with her.

I know a lot of romance readers want the hero and heroine to only be together but for me, one of the most interesting parts of the story was the dating journey with Noely. These were all mostly first, then second dates. Yes, Noely rounds a few bases with each of the men but it was just a good way to explore the chemistry. I want to make it plain and simple that none of these encounters felt like cheating because Noely barely had a relationship with the men. But that doesn’t mean a kiss or two doesn’t feel right in the moment.

I realize I haven’t spoken much about the men Noely dates but honestly, learning about these men through her eyes is half the fun. You’ll realize who is right for her but if you’re like me, you can’t help but cheer her on as she tries to make the big, life-changing connection.

I also really, really loved Noely’s scenes with her best friend, and co-host, Dylan. These two are a hoot! Dylan is a great friend and arrives on the scene for both date planning and hair disasters (why the perm, Noely?? WHY?). She also hates wearing a bra as much as I do. I also really liked seeing Noely hanging out with her brother, sister-in-law, and niece. Readers get a full picture of Noely’s life and it makes the story fun on every level.

Meghan Quinn, you captured me as a reader! I cannot wait for the next book. This book is worth every cent of your book budget, reader! If you like comedic contemporary romances (that do not border into slapstick territory) with a lot of heart and a lot of heat, Three Blind Dates is the book to try.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
