Switch Hitter is Sara Ney’s first venture into a new sport. As you know, I adore her Douchebag series about a group of college wrestlers. Well, Switch Hitter takes on baseball. And it begins with a great novella that is just all kinds of fun to read. An important note however. Switch Hitter was previously included in the Team Player: A Sports Romance Anthology so this story is not brand-new. But if you haven’t read it yet, definitely worth purchasing!
Amelia is in a bit of a bind. Her twin sister, Lucy, is begging her to pretend to be Lucy for an evening for a date with Dante, a guy Lucy has been dating (though not seriously). Amelia eventually caves in, as she often does to her wilder twin’s schemes, and thus, fate is set in motion.
Dante knows immediately something isn’t quite right with “Lucy” on their date to hear a band. He just can’t quite figure out what it is. But whatever he is, he likes it a lot. Amelia is pretty instantaneously in lust with Dante (even though she swears she never falls for jocks) but how can she come clean now that she’s “Lucy”? It’s a fun twin switch that reminded me of the Sweet Valley twin books, only sexier and better written!
I really liked Amelia and Dante. Yes, their relationship is definitely a bit unorthodox considering that Dante doesn’t know who Amelia is. But they do get things straightened out, with the help of Lucy, so it ends quite happily. I won’t explain all the hows but it worked out just right for me. And I really liked that Lucy helped to make things right too. Amelia has a soft spot for her sister, obviously, though she never thought she’d meet the guy of her dreams by pretending to be Lucy!
Switch Hitter is a fun introduction to Sara Ney’s upcoming Jock Row series. I’m hoping to get glimpses of Dante and Amelia in upcoming books because I’d love to see how their romance is progressing.

I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.
Same hair color.
Except…I look harder.
At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn’t there the last time we went out. And her laugh—that laugh isn’t as loud.
This isn’t the girl I’ve gone out with the past few weeks.
It’s her twin sister, and they’ve switched places on me.
Only I’m not quite ready to let them switch back.
