Review: Royal Mess by Jenna Sutton

royalmess-tour

Well, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is almost here! I am super excited for this event and plan to be up at the crack of dawn to watch all the coverage. In the meantime, I have royal romance fever and I’ve been searching out fun books with a royal theme to try. This includes a new book by Jenna Sutton called Royal Mess which features not one but TWO royal romances! Talk about a happy ending for me.

Royal Match starts off this book. This is the story of the heir to the throne of Alsania, Prince Leo, and Tessa Lulach, the woman who matches him. In this case, he matches her liver and is able to donate part of his liver so she does not die. Tessa was prescribed medicine that reacted badly in her body, causing liver failure. Tessa is of course a bit surprised to learn that her match is the “Polar Prince” (thus nicknamed because of his stoic and icy demeanor) but she is of course not turning down this life saving organ match.

This close connection creates its own special link between Leo and Tessa that resonates with them both. Obviously this isn’t a love match in the beginning. Unfortunately, Leo’s good deed is made public and things change dramatically for Tessa, throwing her in close contact with Leo. It makes for very potent sexual tension. You’ll have to read their story to find out how they get to their happily-ever-after but it proves to be a joyful ride from almost the beginning (the donor stuff obviously is a bit more heavy).

Royal Catch tells the story of Prince Marco (Leo’s brother) and Cassie Lulach (Tessa’s sister). Marco has a reputation as a playboy and he doesn’t deny it. Lately though, he only has eyes for Cassie. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to see him at all. And if she does, it is as a friend at most. Marco wants to forget Cassie so when he meets a woman dressed up as a bumblebee for the palace’s royal ball who reminds him of Cassie, well, one thing leads to another and they have a quick rendezvous in the garden folly.

When Cassie discovers she is pregnant, she is utterly shocked. She has no idea who the father is, couldn’t place his face in a line-up even since she never saw him. He was wearing a wolf mask and that’s all she knows. She knows they used a condom too but unfortunately that did not prove to be protection enough. When Cassie shares her news with her sister who passes it along to Leo and Marco, well, Marco is floored. He sees his chance with Cassie as being over and done with. He is sure the father is the man she had been dating recently. Unbeknownst to Marco though, Cassie broke up with that man prior to the royal ball.

These two have a bit of a rocky road in front of them before they can be happy together but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the spectacle. There is a lot of drama and big reveals in this story, not reminiscent of the great reveals TV soap operas have been dealing with for years. It’s an enjoyable story that definitely has a fairy tale quality to it in how Marco and Cassie finally come together, a Cinderella unmasking as it were.

I enjoyed both of these stories immensely and they definitely satisfied my craving for royal romance. Jenna Sutton hooked me in immediately!

About ROYAL MESS

From award-winning author Jenna Sutton comes the story of two princes who discover that falling in love is messy

Prince Leo’s icy demeanor has earned him an amusing nickname—the Polar Prince. Unfortunately, the king doesn’t see the humor. If Leo wants to secure the throne of Alsania, he must improve his image. Participating in an organ donation campaign seems like a good start. He expects to donate his organs on his deathbed, so he’s surprised to be matched with a complete stranger who needs his help now.

Tessa Lulach hates to admit it, but she’s a damsel in distress. When a handsome prince offers to save her with a hunk of his liver, she joyfully accepts. She can’t wait to feel like herself again and return to her beloved flower shop. Instead, her identity is revealed, and the quiet life she loves is turned upside down.

As Leo and Tessa deal with the nosy public and ruthless paparazzi, she realizes the Polar Prince is much warmer than he seems—scorching hot, in fact. He willingly gave her a part of his liver, but can he give her his whole heart?

Everyone loves Prince Marco of Alsania, despite his reckless antics … or maybe because of them. So why does sexy schoolteacher Cassie Lulach prefer a boring investment banker over him? Wounded by her indifference, he has an erotic encounter with a masked woman at a royal ball who reminds him of the one he really wants.

After another failed relationship, Cassie is frustrated with immature, inconsiderate guys. Wanting to escape reality, she attends a masquerade ball and finds herself alone with a masked stranger. For the first time in her life, she acts on impulse, only to end up pregnant and absolutely clueless about the identity of her baby’s father.

When Marco learns of Cassie’s pregnancy and her plans to raise the baby alone, he promises to be there for her, hoping she’ll finally see him as more than just a playboy prince. But then he discovers she’s the woman from the masquerade ball and panics. Today we have the release blitz for Sarah Robinson’s BARE! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Title: BARE: A Hollywood Romance

Author: Sarah Robinson

Series: Exposed, Book 2

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Standalone

About BARE:

Following the popular series debut—NUDES was praised as “passionate, emotional and uplifting” by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely—contemporary romance author Sarah Robinson weaves a new standalone story where a second chance at romance is found on a Hollywood film set and secrets always have a way of being…exposed.

Reed Scott is the hottest actor in LA…

Being a Hollywood heartthrob has its perks, and I’ve damn sure enjoyed every one of them, both on and off the silver screen. The tabloids loved every second of exploiting my privacy, chronicling my mistakes in ink for the whole world to see. Accepting the lead role in a romantic dance film was guaranteed to make me a box office hit and help me rewrite my image, until the choreographer hired to train me turned out to be the only woman I’d ever loved and lost.

As beautiful and enticing as ever, Tegan walks in and reminds me of the worst mistake I’ve ever made. She should hate me, and now she has the power to destroy everything I am.

Tegan Reynolds is picking up the pieces…

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…never going to happen. I fell in love with Reed Scott once and it nearly killed me—literally. The last thing I want to do now is teach him how to dance, but I need this job and there’s no way I’m letting him take yet another thing away from me.

Reed is in my world now, and this time we’re dancing by my rules.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Am I cursed? Teagan stared at herself in the mirror of her small apartment bathroom. She felt cursed. Reed-Scott-freaking-cursed.

Life certainly hadn’t handed her the easiest go, and now, just when she’d thought things were finally turning around because she’d landed a fantastic job as a film choreographer, fate was still proving it had other plans for her. This job was supposed to be her big break—well, break-ish. Sure, it wasn’t what she’d wanted out of her life, but her dreams were no longer an option.

And this job? Most people would kill for it. So, she was choosing to be grateful.

She had to choose to be grateful a lot, actually. If she didn’t, then life would have gotten the better of her years ago. Teagan glanced down at her legs, tracing a finger across the long scar that stretched from her knee to her hip. She tried to hide it under leggings and skirts, but it wasn’t always possible.

When she’d almost died in a car accident at the age of twenty-one, she’d thought she’d never walk again. Hell, the doctors had told her exactly that. And dancing? That was an impossibility.

The years and years she’d spent training to become a professional dancer had all been wiped away in less time than it took for that car to slam hers into a ditch. Despite the doctor’s predictions that her wheelchair would become a permanent fixture, though, she’d proved them all wrong. She’d spent years learning to walk, and then dance, again. Sure, she’d probably never have the agility to become the famous dancer she’d always dreamed of being, but she could at least teach. And with that, she’d found a way to keep doing what she loved…even if it was not exactly what she loved.

So, she chose to be grateful.

But seeing Reed Scott again? The man who made her believe in everlasting, soul-deep, earth shattering love and then left her standing alone at the altar on their wedding day? The man who had left her just to star in a movie that would make him famous?

She was not grateful for that—or for him—one bit.

Teagan finished putting on the last touches of her makeup then changed into a new pair of leggings and a leotard. Glancing one last time in the mirror, she fluffed out her wavy brown hair nervously. As much as she might hate him, she found herself wanting to look her best for him anyway. Make him eat his heart out. Make him regret ever leaving her like that in the first place.

She swallowed, trying to push away her frustration. That didn’t seem possible right now, though. Sighing, Teagan grabbed her car keys off the small table by her front door and gave one last glance around the small Los Angeles apartment she called home. Benson, her incredibly fat tabby cat, was lounging on the windowsill, lazily yawning and watching her. “Bye, Benson. Be good.”

He didn’t even blink at her. He’d probably still be lying in that exact same spot when she came home later.

Teagan blew him a kiss then headed out, locking her front door carefully behind her. Within a few minutes, she was behind the wheel of her car and heading toward the studio. It was still dark outside, but she didn’t mind one bit. She enjoyed early mornings when the world was quiet and the roads were clearer. Driving was still something that made her a little tense after her car accident, and traffic in Los Angeles was always horrendous. But, at five o’clock in the morning, it was a lot more manageable and didn’t make her feel so…terrified.

Luckily, her commute was short and she arrived on set twenty minutes later. She headed straight to the studio where she’d told Reed to meet her, but he wasn’t there yet, which she’d expected since she was a bit early. Placing her dance bag on the shelf to one side of the studio, she pulled out her heel dancer shoes with a cute buckle T-strap over the top of her foot and put them on. She pulled on a loose fitting, light sweater over her leotard for some coverage, since it reached almost to the bottom of her ass.

Next, she began to shimmy out of her leggings, since she was able to work a lot better in her leotard without restriction to her legs. She got down to her knees before she realized that being bare legged would reveal the scar on her leg. Quickly, she slid them back up her legs.

“Shit.”

Teagan whirled around, looking for the person who’d just broken the silence around her.

Reed Scott. Of course.

“You scared the crap out of me,” she told him, grateful that he hadn’t been able to see her scar from where he was standing for the brief moment her leggings had been down.

“Sorry,” he replied, clearly making an effort to look anywhere but at her. “I didn’t know you’d be…uh, I mean, I wasn’t expecting…”

She rolled her eyes. Actors were so dramatic. “I’m not getting naked, Reed. I was just, uh, putting on my leggings to dance.”

“Sure. Right. Yeah.” He was rambling, clutching the gym bag over his shoulder. “So, time to get started?”

“Yep. Put your stuff on the shelf and we’ll get started,” she instructed, doing her best to ignore the butterflies fluttering in her stomach at the very sight of him. Fuck, he looked even better than he’d looked the last time she’d seen him. Tall, broad shoulders, olive skin under thick black hair with a scruffy beard she remembered was very soft. And those eyes…God, the way those light green eyes pierced through her.

He stood you up at the altar, she reminded herself. For a damn movie.

“Sure.” He headed toward her and placed his bag on the shelf. “What are we practicing today?”

“It’s a pretty short routine today, actually. It shouldn’t take us too long.” Though she doubted he’d be the quickest learner after his warning yesterday. “Ready?”

He turned around to look at her, his eyes trailing down her body in a way that made her heart pound faster and faster. Suddenly his gaze stopped, pausing on her legs.

Her heart pounded, terrified he could see through her thin leggings to the bump of her scar. But he said nothing, and his gaze kept traveling. She was safe.

Honestly, she was a little surprised he didn’t already know about her accident. It hadn’t been a secret. Everyone in her life knew, and she’d certainly expected someone to pass along the message. Or for him to check in, even once.

She’d waited for him in the hospital, expecting him to come. Expecting him to apologize. Expecting him to beg her forgiveness, realize what an idiot he had been and take her back, care for her, return her to health with his love and affection.

That hadn’t really worked out.

Finally, his eyes returned to his face, and his tongue slid across his bottom lip. “You look…damn, Teag. You look amazing.”

“Listen, Reed,” she began, setting her jaw and sticking out her chin. “We work together. That’s it. You don’t get to look at me like that anymore.”

Reed looked startled, taken aback at her abruptness. Then the saddest look she’d ever seen passed over his face. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”

“Let’s get started.” She moved to the center of the studio. “I’ll show you today’s sequence, and then we’ll go through it step by step. Okay?”

He nodded, but said nothing.

Carefully, she posed herself in the center of the room with her toes pointed and her arms around her waist. In one slick move, she sidestepped and kicked one leg out to her left, flipping her hair with the motion. She then tucked her foot, her knee pointed out horizontally from her body and spun in a circle.

On her second spin around, she kicked up high, like an incredibly tall karate kick. When her foot touched back down on the ground, she lunged to the right and threw her arms out, tossing back her head with the motion. She curved her spine outwards, pulling her stomach in as she moved her arms in a circular motion toward herself.

She twirled then, spinning on the tips of her toes while keeping her eyes on one stationary spot so she didn’t get dizzy. After her fourth spin, she shoved her arms down by her sides and lifted her chin. With that, she spun back in the direction she’d just come from and leaped multiple times across the room with her arms out and her fingers pointed.

Finally, she came down on one foot and spun in several circles before coming to a stop in front of Reed. “Annnnnd, that’s it.”

“Shit, that looked complicated as hell,” he admitted. “Though you looked incredible doing it.”

She ignored his compliment. Or, rather, she tried. Admittedly, her heart pounded a little harder. But, that was being ignored for now. “Let’s go over the first step.” She repeated the side steps and kicking her leg to the left. “Just like that. Let’s see what you can do.”

Reed followed in her footsteps, and honestly, it wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t great either. “Like that?”

“Close,” she admitted. “Let’s go through it again.”

About THE HOOKUP

Is there an equation for the perfect hookup? Turns out it’s a lot more complicated than one plus one. . . .

Sophie: Numbers are my comfort zone, which explains why my sex life is a big fat zero. Then again, if I’m smart enough to earn a PhD, why can’t I calculate a way to get a guy into bed, just to see what all the fuss is about? With my prima donna sister, Bella, getting married in Maine, I figure her wedding is the perfect opportunity for my little experiment. And Cain Jordan seems hot enough—he’s certainly drunk enough—to show me what I’ve been missing. Judging by the body of evidence, it’s a lot. . . .

Cain: Being stuck in the same town as my lying SOB twin brother, Christian—who may or may not be the father of the son I’m not allowed to see—is a hell of a reason to drink myself silly after the lobster boat docks each day. Any port in a storm . . . But Sophie’s different. She doesn’t play around. And she’s becoming a habit I don’t want to break. Because the smartest woman I’ve ever met is also the sexiest—and the only one who makes me want to change.

I saw him the minute we walked into the bar. A guy perched comfortably on a stool, his arms muscular, his grin confident, arrogant. He had short dark hair and a jawline that was sharp and symmetrical. Dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, this was no software engineer or physicist. This was one of those manly men that they use for memes on Pinterest and for beer commercials and underwear ads. He was abs and ass, muscles and machismo, and like any other female, I had an immediate reaction to all that testosterone.

My heart started to race and my body started to tense and tighten, and grow warm in places that normally only got hot and wet in the privacy of my own apartment. I wanted to fan myself as I stared at him, blinking through the veil of mascara and fake lashes.

It was like my vagina stood up and sang. Him. He would be the one. The man to take my virginity and make it a memory. He wasn’t my type, but that wasn’t the point. He wouldn’t be interested in me either, but I knew enough about bar culture to know that if he was here, he was interested in going home with a girl. I could be that girl.

I was delusional, of course, a fact I was forced to acknowledge immediately when I realized that despite the fact that my dress had coaxed huge cleavage from my reluctant breasts, the hottie was checking out my sister.

So typical. But I couldn’t deny that blondes were more fun. At least more fun than me.

I walked past him to the bar and plucked the menu off the countertop, debating how to proceed. Men. The one equation I could never solve.

Read an Excerpt from ROYAL MESS

“I wanted to let you know that I’m going to do a media tour to talk about my experience as a living donor,” Leo says.

Surprised by his announcement, I emit an involuntary “Oh!”

The royal family is constantly in the news. From the king’s work in parliament and the queen’s charitable efforts to Prince Leo’s diplomatic trips abroad and Prince Marco’s latest antics, there’s plenty of fodder for the media.

“People are curious, and I’d rather they hear the real story from me instead of”—he makes air quotes with both hands—“an unnamed source close to the prince. Who knows? Maybe I can persuade more people to be living donors.”

“That’d be amazing if you could, Leo. There aren’t enough donors, living or deceased.”

He leans forward. “How would you feel about participating in the media tour … coming forward as a transplant recipient?”

It takes a moment for his words to register. When they do, my whole body recoils. “I don’t know…”

I trail off, unable to articulate my feelings. If my donor liver came from a normal person instead of Leo, I wouldn’t hesitate to tell everyone my story. But Leo’s royal blood—his position as the future king of Alsania—complicates things. The thought of being stalked by paparazzi makes it hard for me to breathe.

“Hey.” One of Leo’s big hands curves over my knee. “Listen to me, Tessa.” He squeezes lightly. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. It’s your decision.”

I shrug uncomfortably. “I need some time to think about it. Is that okay?”

“Of course it’s okay.

He drops his hand from my knee and rises from the chair. His broad chest blocks my view of the rest of the room, and I have to tilt my head back to see his eyes.

To my surprise, he moves closer and cups his hands around my face. His skin is hot and supple like the leather seats in a sports car in the summer. He strokes the pads of his thumbs across my cheekbones, and that simple touch spreads heat throughout my body.

“Look at you.” His voice is deep and husky. “Your cheeks are so pink.”

Pink from desire. Pink from excitement.

One of his thumbs cruises down to my mouth and skims across my bottom lip. “And your lips…”

I must be having an out-of-body experience. Or maybe I’m in a medically induced coma and this is just a hallucination. I don’t know how else to explain what’s happening.

“What about my lips?”

“They’re pink too,” he whispers, “like those peonies you dropped.”

I wrap my hands around his wrists, not to push him away but to keep him close. “Leo…”

Kiss me. Please. Now.

A groan rumbles in his chest, and that rough sound creates an ache between my legs. Sliding his hand into my hair, he palms my head and brings his mouth to mine.

About Three Day Fiancée:

Helicopter pilot Taylor Blankenship’s time schedule is maxed out. Between his job, his eighty-pound slobbering mess of a dog, and his matchmaking grandmother, he has no time for anyone or anything—especially a woman. If only there were a way to get Grams to back down.

The job of New York City dog walker suits Caitlin Ramos perfectly while she preps for her CPA exam—steady, scheduled, and requiring very little human interaction; a huge seller since she’s still on the mend from a toxic relationship. Men suck. Especially her bossy, hot client with the Saint Bernard that thinks it’s a lap dog. No way will she go for his plan to pretend they’re engaged to get his grandmother off his case. Down, boy.

Offered a bargain she can’t refuse, Caitlin finds herself playing the part of fiancée to Taylor. Fortunately, it’s only for three days. All she has to do is fake a relationship with Mr. Bossy Pants in front of his entire family, survive a fierce game of truth or dare with an unscrupulous pair of octogenarians, endure a one-on-one round of Twister with Taylor, and not lose her heart to a guy who turns out tobe a lot more than she’d bargained for.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Caitlin liked to snap the leash on Beauregard, a huge Saint Bernard, at exactly seven. Labeled a problem client, Beau was on his third agency and had blazed through a fair share of walkers, the latest of which was Rick, a co-worker from Animal Attraction. Caitlin and Beau had hit it off immediately, and he’d never given her any trouble, so she’d found Rick’s stories of the dog’s misbehavior hard to believe. She checked her phone when she pulled out her keychain. She still had one minute. At least one thing was going right—she was on time. She slid her key in the lock and froze.

Bark-bark! Crash.

She’d never known Beau to break anything before. Heck, he usually just laid around and slobbered. Sometimes even getting him to go out for a walk took a treat or two.

Crash. Thump-thump-thump. Ahoooooooo! Woooo! WOOF!

Great. A cold shower, stubbed toe, blown breaker, no caffeine, close encounter with a garbage truck, soggy feet, wet hair, and now this. Whatever this was.

A chill shot down her spine as she lifted her hand to knock, then stopped. Beauregard’s owner was never home at this time of day. He left for work before she arrived. What if someone had broken in?

Her fingers tightened on the key as she debated whether to call 911 or go tell Fred in the lobby.

“Beauregard, stop! Sit! Stay!” a male voice shouted from inside. Well, at least it wasn’t a burglar unless he was doubling as a dog trainer. Score one in the win column this time. She relaxed fractionally, silently unlocking the door and opening it just a crack to peek in.

Oh, man. Score ten in the win column.

The hottest guy she’d ever seen was chasing Beauregard around the living room wearing nothing but a bath towel—and the towel was hanging on for dear life…not that she blamed it; she’d hang on to that fine backside for dear life, too, given the chance. He was tall, with dark hair and a build that was lean and toned and screamed long-term gym membership. She bit back a laugh as Hot Guy and his six-pack abs hurdled the coffee table in an attempt to catch Beau, who lumbered to the far end of the room, drooling. She might have been drooling, too as he lunged for Beau and missed.

“Look don’t touch.” Yep. And she was getting a good look. She grinned, realizing her crap day had finally turned around.

And then a couple of things happened at once. Beau noticed her in the doorway and launched toward her at full steam, no doubt to give her his customary slobbery greeting with uncustomary zeal. As the dog passed the center of the room, Hot Guy reached out and grabbed his collar, causing the muscles across his broad chest to bunch up as he attempted to slow the dog—the attempt didn’t slow anything, especially Caitlin’s heartbeat. The day had done a total one-eighty. Win all around. No need for caffeine now.

“Woof!” Beauregard barked.

Yeah, woof! Caitlin was too stunned to do anything but stare, heart pounding, as the dog and towel-clad Hot Guy, still clinging to Beau’s collar, hurtled in her direction like a runaway locomotive. Bring on that train wreck, universe.

It was obvious Hot Guy hadn’t noticed her until that second, because his brown eyes grew huge as Beau reared up, his paws landing on her shoulders, tongue nailing her cheek as she slammed back against the doorjamb.

“Oh, shit,” he said, only inches from her. So close she could smell his aftershave or soap or whatever mouth-watering scent clung to his body. Releasing the dog, he tightened the towel and took a couple of steps back. “I’m sorry, I…”

Caitlin strained to peek around Beau’s huge head as the guy backed up another step and gave a smile. “I didn’t see you there.”

Well, no way could she say the same, and she certainly wasn’t sorry. Heck, the last few minutes warranted completely forgiving the universe for conspiring against her all morning.

Review: Jock Row by Sara Ney

JockRow availnowbanner

Sara Ney hits it out of the ball park again in her new book, Jock Row. I devoured this book in a matter of hours and wanted MORE when it ended. This was the love story I had been searching for for awhile without even knowing it.

Scarlett Ripley is going to a baseball house party with her two friends. She is excited about it because she is finally getting over a cold and feels well enough to socialize and have some fun again. Unfortunately, the party they go to proves to be anything but fun, at least at first. Scarlett definitely appreciates the hot bods of the baseball players but to say she is underwhelmed with their pick-up lines and blatant lies (sorry guys, you’ve met a girl who follows college baseball a bit) is putting it lightly. The two guys hitting on Scarlett’s friends aren’t particularly happy with her either. They bring in the big guns. In this case, team captain Rowdy Wade.

He gets her out of the house and onto the front steps where he tells her she is not allowed inside for the rest of the night. Scarlett is shocked and infuriated… at least at first. The more she banters and cajoles Rowdy into maybe letting her back into the party to check on her friends, the more she kind of starts crushing on him. In a very never going to happen way of course.

BUT IS IT?

Because next Friday, Scarlett is back and Rowdy is waiting for her. Their conversations turn funny and serious and flirty. Each of them is really starting to look forward to Friday nights on the front steps of the baseball steps.

hearteyes

Now I realize I’m not in general a gif review person but my gosh this book sucked me in. Lately, all I’ve been wanting is a romance where the man and woman enjoy falling in love and aren’t fighting those feelings constantly. Neither Rowdy or Scarlett were looking for a relationship, it’s true, but once they zeroed in on each other, the chemistry just took over. I mean, little zings of pleasure when they touched kind of chemistry. It made my heart so happy.

Rowdy is particularly cynical about women. I can’t say I was super pleased with his labeling of all women as gold diggers essentially BUT I kind of forgave him because in many ways that had been his experience and that of his friends. I do wish he had been a bit nicer to Scarlett’s friends though.

Those minor things aside, I just fell so hard for this book. I loved how Sara Ney structured it (the first Friday, the second Friday, the third Friday, etc). It was a fun way to play with time and see their relationship progress. I also really liked Scarlett. She seemed like someone I would be friends with which is always a fun thing to realize when reading a book. She has a great sense of humor, she’s not the smartest woman in the world (and admits it) and she has a total heart crush on coral reefs which was sweet. I liked Rowdy with her too. They complemented each other really nicely. I wish it had been easier for them to be more open about their feelings but it did make for some amusing internal conflict.

As usual, the sex and all things leading up to is HOT. Just whoa, scorch me why don’t you, book? Sara Ney writes great sex but I think in Jock Row she has really outdone herself in the lead-up to sex. Just having these two share the same set of stairs was making me so happy for them. I liked being able to get inside both of their heads at various points in the story.

I’m excited for this series to continue though I’m a bit baffled as to who the next couple will be. None of the secondary characters stood out to me that much as potential future couples so I wait with baited breath to discover who will be in the second book.

Jock Row is available now and it is GREAT EXCELLENT AWESOME EXCITING SENSUAL and more. I had a blast reading this book. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately so it was so nice to fall fully absorbed into a story. Great job, Sara Ney!

P.S. His real name isn’t Rowdy but I will leave it up to you to discover his first name.

Scarlett is always the sensible one: The sober driver. The planner. The one holding your hair back while you’re worshiping the porcelain gods.

Week-after-week, she visits Jock Row with her friends—the universities hottest party scene and breeding ground for student athletes. And if keeping her friends out of trouble, and guys out of their pants, was a sport, she’d be the star athlete.

Being a well known jock-blocker gets her noticed for all the wrong reasons; just like that, she’s banned from Jock Row. NO GUY WANTS A GIRL AROUND WHO KEEPS THEIR JOCK FRIENDS FROM GETTING LAID.

“Rowdy” Wade is the hot shot short-stop for the university’s baseball team—and the unlucky bastard who drew the short straw: keep little Miss Goody Two-Shoes out of the Baseball House.

But week-after-week Scarlett returns, determined to get inside.

Jesus Christ, she has a dimple in her damn cheek.

I’m a sucker for those.

She shoots me a tentative smile, ass parked on the stoop, back propped against the wooden siding of the house.

It’s obvious that she’s blushing by the way she ducks her head, glancing down at the floor, the soft glow from the two busted lamps illuminate the crown of her head.

The porch lights are busted and rusty, needing their bulbs changed, one flickering—the other just about to burn out. It makes the entire place look like a goddamn Halloween fun-house, casting a weird glow on the girl’s smooth, pale skin.

And her pretty dimple.

Stop staring at it, dipshit.

I cast my glance at her outfit, doing my best to analyze her under the dim lights; she must have been sweaty inside the house; I got a good look at her before convincing her to follow me, but still study her as if seeing her for the first time.

Both of her boots are tucked under her legs, and she sits, cross-legged on the ground. Blows out a frustrated puff of air that translates into a billowing stream of steam.

“So.” She wraps her puffed sleeved arms around her knees, hugging them tight. Shivers. “Now what?”

Her prim ponytail is jaunty, bobbing when she tilts her head to gaze over at me.

“Now I babysit you.”

“Lovely. We can bond.”

I position my large body against the railing, giving it a gentle shake to make sure it’s sturdy before supporting all my weight on it. It’s solid and secure and is going to get real uncomfortable real fucking fast if I have to stand here all night.

The girl raises her brows at me. They appear black in this light; full and arched expertly. “Have you babysat anyone before?”

“No one I managed to keep alive,” I joke. “A few cousins my parents forced me to watch a few times; never would feed them but would occasionally throw out a dog bone so they wouldn’t get hungry.”

She smiles, dimple denting the smooth right side of her face. “Is that what you have planned for me?”

I raise my empty hands. “I’m fresh out of Scooby snacks. Guess we’ll both have to starve.”

“Sorry you have to sit out here.”

“Really?” I sound hopeful. “No one is forcing you to sit out here.”

Her light laugh is quiet. “Fine. I guess I’m not that sorry.” She bites down on her lower lip. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying your discomfort—just a little bit.”

“Gee, thanks.”

About ROYAL MESS

Available May 8th

*****

Will the truth destroy his chance to win over Cassie, or will he convince her that they can have their own happily ever after?

About THE HOOKUP

Available May 8th

Don’t miss Bella and Christian’s story in The Breakup!

Read an Excerpt from THE HOOKUP
