I am enjoying this new series by Erin McCarthy, a long time favorite romance author of mine. Strip Tease is the third book in the Tap That series and it stands alone very well! Do not be afraid to jump into this book if it sounds intriguing to you.
Grace Martinez is shocked when she spots the face of the man who got her pregnant nine years ago during a one-night stand. The online video of men dancing at a Northern Minnesota bar was mildly amusing until she spots his face and then Grace feels like the young college student she once was long ago. But she is also ready to tell this mystery man that he has a daughter named Fallon.
Brandon Blackwell enjoys the good life. He makes a lot of money and it shows in his clothes and pursuit of a playboy lifestyle. When he spies a woman glaring at him while he struts his stuff on the stage for a breast cancer benefit, he is intrigued. When he pulls her up on the stage to dance with him, he just about goes into shock when she blurts out that he is the father of her daughter.
The pace of the book picks up quickly from here on out, perhaps too quickly. Brandon is quick to abandon his playboy lifestyle to get to know Fallon and of course, Grace. Suddenly, all he wants is to be with Grace. It is quite a quick switcheroo admittedly for me. Nonetheless, I did feel he gave it his all in showing Fallon and Grace that he can and is ready to make a commitment to them.
Brandon is truly staggered to discover that he has a daughter. He realizes very quickly that his behavior from college was that of a total jerk and he apologizes to Grace. Grace thought she was ready for her daughter to get to know her father but it is harder than she thought to learn to be a co-parent. There is give and take on both sides of their growing relationship.
And of course, it is a sexy book! Brandon has sex on the mind quite a bit to be honest but I figured it went along with his carefree lifestyle. Soon it is all he can do to not think about Fallon and Grace and creating a family with them.
As mentioned, this book definitely picks up quickly once Grace tells Brandon the news. Soon they are sharing a lake home together (temporarily) so Brandon can get to know Fallon. Their relationship escalates from there. I appreciate how genuine Brandon was in his remorse about the past and how open Grace is about forgiving him and working towards a good future for their daughter.
