Just from the title alone, you can tell there is some subterfuge and well, lies, between the main characters. You can’t say you were unaware going into the book. I knew it too and felt prepared but I admit, I was a tiny bit surprised by the things Jill and Cam are hiding from each other, even if eventually Kacey Shea creates motivation for it.
The chemistry between Jill and Cameron is very, very sexy and fun. Jill in particular believes their relationship will be all hook-up, no emotions. How wrong she is! I really enjoyed watching Cam work his way into her life when she least expects it. And she finds ways to also be part of his life even if it is begrudging at first. But eventually, even hard-nosed Jill can’t resist baking Cam some banana bread. They may not have had a traditional boyfriend-girlfriend relationship at first but it turns serious.
I liked Cam a lot. He is confused about Jill and what she wants from him but he is doing his best to give it to her, even if he wants more. Jill is a bit harder to read at first but I really came to appreciate her bluntness and way of seeing the world. She hasn’t had an easy life but she is making the most of the opportunities that are currently in her world. I respect gumption and Jill has that.
Caught in the Lies is the first book I have read from Kacey Shea but I am definitely willing to seek out other stories by her. This book is a great steal at only $3.99 for the release week price! And I cannot take my eyes off that cover. All around, a satisfying romance!
