Blurb:
Have you ever hit rock bottom?

I embarrassingly have.

It’s why I’m wearing my girl’s decorative scarf over my head, clutching her lady drink to my chest, and singing ever so softly to Joni Mitchell while swaying back and forth.

This is what therapists refer to as LOSING IT.

Oldest story in the book: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy screws up MASSIVELY, girl tells boy to suffocate in the fruits of his very own unborn children.

Heard it before? I’m sure you have.

So what’s so different about this story? Well, it’s about me, The Modern Gentleman, New York City’s top advice columnist, and my rather ungraceful downfall from my pristinely polished pedestal

It’s about a girl I met who threw all my proven theories to the wind and left me awkward, needy, and absolutely head-over-wingtipped shoes in love.

This is a story about June Lacy and how she single-handedly dismantled The Modern Gentleman.

Cover Reveal: Hard Pass by Sara Ney

“Hard pass.”

That’s what the last girl I slept with said when she got her first sober glimpse of me. She laughed, walked out of my penthouse—and I never saw her again. It doesn’t matter that I’m a rich, professional athlete; what mattered was my face.

Beauty might only be skin deep for some—but I know better.

“Pay up.”

That’s what the last girl I spoke to said over the phone when I made her an offer she couldn’t refuse. Desperate to sell a set of rare baseball cards, she’s clever and entertaining. I’m instantly smitten, but nowhere ready to reveal myself. Thank god she has no idea who I am—or what I look like.

I’m a professional athlete–how hard can playing the love game be?

Review: The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee by Annika Martin

BFF - RB banner.jpg

A new Annika Martin book is a cause for celebration in my life, especially this year when so many things are just going wrong. The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee is another laugh-out-loud but super sexy book. But… just to get it all out there… it takes place on a massive yacht. A yacht filled with rich people. A yacht in a world where there is no coronavirus. So, I must admit it felt slightly odd to read a book set on a ship when in real world 2020, being on a big boat is not a cause for fun.

That being said, I had a blast reading this book! Total blast. I adore Tabitha. She is a business savvy hairstylist who takes her job seriously. Unfortunately, she is suffering from a repetitive stress injury and has to take a few weeks off. And that doesn’t bode well for her rent. Then, out of nowhere (kind of), a new opportunity lands in her lap.

Tabitha has been asked to be the fake fiancee of Rex O’Rourke, a very wealthy man involved in the stock market. It’s basically his life. But unfortunately he’s also a jerk to women and it has given him a bit of a bad reputation. When his assistant leaks the fact that Rex is engaged, he is annoyed but willing to go along with it to win a big account. And that’s when things get interesting but also made me mad on Tabitha’s behalf.

Readers, anytime you see a list of a woman’s attributes being written down in a book or movie, know that it is a bad sign! Unfortunately Rex makes that mistake and when Tabitha discovers the truth, well she is not going to hold out on her anger and hurt.

Now, Rex is a bit of a jerk. Basically he’s similar to a lot of Annika Martin’s heroes but gosh did I love him. I loved seeing him fall for Tabitha, trying to win her back with grand gestures that were very out of character for him. He is definitely work focused but on the mega yacht, he becomes more and more Tabitha focused.

And Tabitha… I think she may be my favorite character of Annika Martin’s yet! Tabitha is into soap operas, she has a pet hamster, she is cheerful and fun and beneath her sunshine facade, she has an equally amazing business acumen that goes toe to toe with Rex (just, different careers). I really liked these two being pitted together because Rex quickly saw just how wrong he was about Tabitha, while Tabitha was winning people over on the yacht left and right just by being herself.

There is some lying involved which really bothers Tabitha. She tries not to get close to the yacht’s owner, Gail, because she has so much respect for all that Gail has accomplished in the business world. And then there is the mystery of the guests and what may be going on with Gail’s newly discovered family member.

This book just made me smile and laugh and feel cheerful for the first time in awhile. I love Annika Martin’s writing style, her characters, and the fact that even though Rex is a grumpy jerk initially, he sets out to prove that he can be the right person for Tabitha. And Tabitha, she just shines all on her own.

The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancee is stellar contemporary romance from an author who has jumped to the top of my favorite author’s list.

The Billionaire’s Fake Fiancée, a sexy romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author, Annika Martin, is LIVE!

TBFF_ebook_amazon_kobo_ibooks.jpg

I’m no Prince Charming, and the last thing I want is a Cinderella.

My instructions were simple: scour the city for a fake fiancée who’s not my type at all. Have her on my jet Monday morning, dressed appropriately for a yacht vacation.

I need a woman believable enough to convince a certain client that I’ve changed my playboy ways…yet nothing like the supermodels and socialites I usually have on my arm.

Somebody too annoying to tempt me—no emotional entanglements, thank you very much. This is business only.

If she’s unfazed by my looks and wealth, all the better.

Should be easy. Right?

Apparently not, because my people go and hire Tabitha. My hairdresser.

What were they thinking? Yes, I said annoying, but I didn’t mean her, the most frustrating woman in the world.

Tabitha is sunshiny. She has a pet hamster. She loves Hello Kitty, and she gets under my skin like nobody else.

As if that’s not bad enough, the minute we step on deck, she thinks that certain people on the yacht are up to something shady—based completely on her soap opera knowledge.

She won’t listen when I tell her she’s being ridiculous.

But as the days go by, I find that we’re actually having fun. And our fake kisses are heating up. And suddenly her wild theories aren’t sounding so strange after all…

Don’t Go Stealing My Heart by Kelly Siskind

God, she wanted to kiss him, and do so much more. To experience sex with someone who knew pieces of her puzzle, who didn’t pity her but lifted her up. If he got his skilled hands on her, she feared and thrilled at what could happen.

“You said you couldn’t ask me on a date,” she said, voice shaky. A pitiful attempt to force their distance.

She’d kissed marks on a job before. She’d play up her prude innocence and nothing more would happen. Rich men, she’d learned, found a hard-to-get woman enticing. A change from gold-diggers hunting for prey. After locating her targeted loot, she’d then feign illness and thank her dates, never to return their calls. A week or month or two later, she’d sneak in and secure her score.

No residual guilt. No longing for what could have been.

Kissing Jack David would wreck her. She knew it. She wasn’t sure she could avoid it, or even worse, fight it.

“I did say I couldn’t date you, didn’t I?” Jack mused, unaware of her turmoil. Or maybe he was aware. It was impossible to hide her trembling limbs. “But kissing isn’t dating, is it?”

“You’re suddenly forward.” As hard as Shy Jack was to resist, Bold Jack was proving more challenging.

“Thing is,” he said, back to drawing sexy circles on his beer bottle, not meeting her eyes. “I’m painfully awkward around beautiful women, which is why I’ve been curt with you at times and generally artless. But when I get comfortable with someone, when trust takes over the nerves”—he looked at her then, right into her eyes—“when that happens, the confidence I feel on stage bleeds into my life.”

He continued staring at her, unabashed, no wobble or skittishness in sight. Shivers erupted along her arms.

This is who I am, his piercing blue eyes said.

I like you. I trust you. I want to kiss you.

Everything she felt in spades. “I think classifying the kiss as dating or messing around depends on the kissing,” she said, breathless.

“Excellent point.” He hummed, still focused on her.

She struggled to fill her lungs.

He smirked knowingly. “Let’s say, for argument’s sake, that I kiss your cheek. Would that be considered acceptable? A non-date kiss?”

The mentioned spot tingled with anticipation. “I believe that would be allowed.”

“And the crescent-moon scar on your shoulder?”

A shaky “yes” was all she managed.

“And the three freckles on your nose, and the birthmark just below your right collarbone, and the one on the back of your neck, that lines up with your spine?” He said all of this with his eyes locked on hers, confident in his seduction. He’d been studying her body without doing so overtly. No different than the way she’d snuck glances of his strapping physique while they’d been running or when emphasized in his tailored suits. Both of them had been lusting from the sidelines.

Book Blurb:

She wants to steal his Van Gogh. He wants to steal her heart.

Some people would call Clementine Abernathy a criminal. She considers herself a modern day Robin Hood, who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Not exactly on the up-and-up, but she knows what it’s like to lose everything. Her latest heist involves swiping a priceless Van Gogh from its owner, who’s supposed to be an egotistical trust-fund brat.

Turns out Jack David is a sexy, kind-hearted man…and Clementine is in trouble. Falling for her mark would make her the World’s Dumbest Conwoman, but Jack is charmingly persistent, always singing sweet songs in her ear.

And that earth-shattering kiss? She never stood a chance.

Now she’s imagining a fresh start with this dashing man, but that means telling Jack about her past. And other nefarious sorts are after the same painting. Too soon, Clementine learns what it means to risk it all for love.

Review: The Best Mistake by Cookie O’Gorman

I am definitely a fan of sports-centric romances despite not actually being super into real life sports that much. Or frankly athletes. But there’s something about a good fictional athlete that I kind of swoon over.

The Best Mistake is well, definitely a case of wrong identity! Honor is at a frat party determined to lose her virginity. She is twenty-one and in her mind, it is time. Her best friend, Charlie, has let her know that the easiest person to hook-up with is Baylor O’Brien, of the O’Brien family dynasty. Unfortunately, all the O’Briens look, well, super hot. She does hook-up with an O’Brien, but it is not Baylor and he makes that clear when she well, announces it during her orgasm.

Archer O’Brien is not pleased that Honor really doesn’t know who he is. But he also really, really wants to see her again. They have chemistry that he has never found with another woman and he is loath to see that end so soon. He would also like to clear his name so to speak! But as captain of the baseball team, Archer has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders, including brothers who make more trouble than they are worth!

The Best Mistake is typical new adult romance. It doesn’t break any new ground but I didn’t expect it to or want it to! I wanted to read this book because it takes me back to my sports romance loving roots and in these days of pandemics, I just wanted something that would make me happy. This book has a bit too much drama for my personal tastes but when all was said and done, I was happy for Archer and Honor. I connected with them. Again, don’t expect characters to break every mold out there but know you can relate to Honor’s problems with her mom, her love for her best friend, Charlie, and yeah, her newfound feelings for Archer are very sweet and exciting.

The Best Mistake is the kind of comfort new adult romance I needed in my life recently and I’m glad I read it. I have never read anything by Cookie O’Gorman before but be sure to check out the acknowledgments and author’s note in this book which I thought were a lot of fun.

The Best Mistake is available now!

Today we have the blog tour for Cookie O’Gorman’s THE BEST MISTAKE! We’re so excited to share this new contemporary romance with release festivities with you!

Title: The Best Mistake

Author: Cookie O’Gorman

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About The Best Mistake:

Honor Tierney just wants one night with the playboy.

One hot, steamy, meaningless hookup, and then she’ll happily go back to reading her favorite books, studying to be an accountant and writing for the campus-paper-nobody-reads. Too bad she ends up in the wrong bed, with the wrong brother…who gives her the hottest night of her life.

Archer O’Brien just wants to play ball.

Well that, and for his brothers to stop acting out, so he won’t have to worry 24/7. As the oldest O’Brien and team captain, it’s his duty to make sure they don’t drink too much, party too much, or get in too much trouble. But when she walks into his bedroom—mistaking him for his brother—life throws him a curveball.

She’s determined to guard her heart. He’s not giving up.

And when Honor gets assigned to cover the Wolves baseball team, it’s game on.

This new adult sports romance features one hot (and hilarious) case of mistaken identity and a sexy set of brothers guaranteed to make you swoon.

Sometimes, the best mistakes are worth making.

Review: Bachelor Boss by Sara Ney

Release Date: April 7

It isn’t often you catch a coworker puking in the garbage but that is exactly what Spencer witnesses after daring Phillip to eat some old, gross cream cheese. And well, he wasn’t go to say no to that challenge! No one is the boss of him. But Spencer definitely has the last laugh, of sorts. Phillip is forced to move into her office because of a renovation that is going on at the company they both work at. Suddenly, these two are sharing tight quarters and their witty banter and flirtatious innuendos are making the very air around them feel electric.
I like Bachelor Boss more than the first book in this series. There is just something about Phillip and Spencer’s chemistry that really resonated with me. And despite the “bachelor society” that Phillip participates in, he notes very quickly in the book’s beginning that he is interested in having a family and being married. In fact, he bemoans the fact that all he has in his life are his friends and Humphrey. Then he meets Spencer and it is like instant chemistry explosion! Destiny.
I will say, on a personal note, I’ve been laid off so my reading has been…. in spurts. I haven’t been able to concentrate on books the way I normally I have so this one took me a bit longer to read than normal for a Sara Ney book BUT I credit that totally to me and my personal mental struggles.
I really liked Humphrey the basset hound, definitely a star of this book in my mind! He made me laugh and his “training” with Phillip is pretty much Humphrey does what he wants when he wants it. Also, I liked the animal voice in this book versus the first in the series. Sara Ney nails basset hound!
All in all, Bachelor Boss has a lot of good things going for it. Spencer is ambitious and fun. Despite his good intentions to win the bet he has going on with this two best friends, Phillip wants to fall in love. And while he messes up at the end (as one would expect), I appreciated how he grovelled and made things right.
Sara Ney continues her winning streak of fun contemporary romances.
What is The Bachelors Club?
It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.
We’re ineligible bachelors, bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually. So committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest…

Four days co-habitating in a shared work space shouldn’t be a big deal. It shouldn’t be distracting. But Spencer Standish saw me puking in a company trash can, and won’t let me live it down. Cheerful, aggravating Spencer, who wants me to fetch her coffee.
As if she’s the boss of me.

And now I’m stuck sharing her office.
Let’s face facts: I can’t be in a relationship; not when there’s a bet to win—not with Spencer, who loves my uncontrollable basset hound, lazy Sundays, and grilled cheese as much as I do. I refuse to fall for her.

will be the last Bachelor standing.

Get ready for another binge-worthy romance from New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy!

College was supposed to be my chance to get over my ugly-duckling complex and spread my wings. Instead, I wound up in a sorority full of mean girls. I already have a hard time fitting in, so when my Kappa Chi sisters issue the challenge, I can’t say no.

The dare: seduce the hottest new hockey player in the junior class.

Conor Edwards is a regular at Greek Row parties…and in Greek Row sorority beds. He’s the one you fall for before you learn that guys like him don’t give girls like me a second glance. Except Mr. Popular throws me for a loop—rather than laughing in my face, he does me a solid by letting me take him upstairs to pretend we’re getting busy.

Even crazier, now he wants to keep pretending. Turns out Conor loves games, and he thinks it’s fun to pull the wool over my frenemies’ eyes.

But resisting his easy charm and surfer-boy hotness is darn near impossible. Though I’m realizing there’s much more to Conor’s story than his fan club can see.

And the longer this silly ruse goes on, the greater the danger of it all blowing up in my face.
