Review: Charlie, Love and Cliches by Ella Maise

Charlie, Love and Cliches caught my eye because of the cover. I like pink a lot and despite not loving cartoon covers, I do think this cover is very cute! Fortunately, the story turned out to be good too!

When you meet Charlie in this book, well, be prepared! She has just come out of the rain with a handful of balloons and a cake for her office. She is not going to make the best first impression for the new hire at her company (her father’s company). Her father is a real piece of work by the way. When Charlie meets William she is mortified. She knows William! She knew him six years ago in fact. She thought they connected!

And now William is back and working at her company and he is kind of her boss. Let the sparks fly!

This book has a solid romance at its core. I liked watching Charlie and William reconnect. They have solid chemistry and it made the story flow pretty well. I will admit, this is a book I stopped and started quite a bit. I just couldn’t get a great reading groove going unfortunately. But when I was reading, I did like the book! This is the first time I have read a book by Ella Maise and while a new author is always risky, I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.

If you enjoy watching the main characters reconnect after time apart (and as virtual strangers when they first met) and you like seeing a woman attempt to take control of her life (go Charlie!) I think you’ll enjoy reading Charlie, Love and Cliches!

Charlie, Love and Cliches by Ella Maise is now live!

Six years ago at a random diner I met a stranger and he became the-one-who-got-away, or more correctly the-one-who-didn’t-show-up.

A small advice from me to you: if you haven’t dated, touched *or* kissed a guy in years and *years*…do not try to crawl away or hide from the-one-who-got-away. It’s not a good look.

William Carter, the stranger I’d met six years ago was the last person I’d imagine ever seeing at my dad’s firm where I work. While I panic and fight off the butterflies in my stomach and in general struggle to act normal, I realize he doesn’t even remember me. I’m not sure if I should feel relieved or heartbroken. Things get worse when I learn we’ll need to work in close quarters to each other, but at least I let him know that I don’t have a crush on him anymore right away. Just in case he gets any ideas.

While I’m in the process of writing lists and making serious changes in my life, because I decide I’m ready to be the heroine in my own story; having William just a breath away is not helping things. Especially when things shift between us and we start to make eye contact in meetings. Then he shows up in places I least expect him to…as in blind dates and sex clubs. He also gives me cheese because he knows how much I like it and there are secret notes he leaves in my office. If you were wondering, I still don’t have a crush on him though. Nope.

Even though I’d promised myself I’d never wait around for another guy and postpone my own life, I’m afraid William Carter who looks at me as if I’m his and was always supposed to be his might ruin my hopeful plans. And quite possibly me for any other guy since I’m craving his touch like I’ve never craved anything in my life before. But we both know we’re a losing game so we keep admitting that neither one of us has a crush on the other.
Not anymore. Not at all. Not even a little bit.

Meet Ella

I love nothing more than to escape real life to find those very few magical moments in a book. I love how it has the power of stealing your worries away, putting a smile on your face even when smiling is the last thing on your mind. Crushing on fictional characters is also another bonus. Through my words, if I can manage to make even one person smile, it means I’ve done my job well.

Writing became my world and I can’t imagine myself doing anything other than creating new characters and telling their stories.
